St Luke's Hospice fundraising assistant Nikki Moorhouse, aged 29, from Nether Edge, is ready for action with a Total Warrior obstacle course race

By day, Sheffield’s Nikki Moorhouse is a charity fundraiser.

However, at weekends she is intending to become a Total Warrior!

Last year the fundraising assistant at Sheffield’s St Luke’s Hospice in Whirlow tackled her first 10km race.

However, when friends then told her about the Total Warrior challenge, the 29-year-old decided to throw herself into the ordeal and test her endurance.

On Saturday, June 21, she will be lining up in Leeds to prove herself a Total Warrior, tackling a 12km run including 33 physically gruelling obstacles – including gallons of muddy water and even running through fire.

Nikki, of Nether Edge, said: “My best practice session so far has been a section of the Sheffield Round Walk.

“I found some monkey bars that added an extra challenge, I ran through a golf course by accident, and slid down a massive hill in Graves Park.

“I have worked with St Luke’s for three years, and every year we help 1,400 patients and their families and carers – more than 5,000 people in all. However, to provide all our services free of charge we need to raise £4.5 million a year.”
