New cancer campaign

Doncaster CVS has teamed up with North Trent Cancer Network in one of seven pilot campaigns to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

The Ovarian Cancer Awareness Campaign launches next week and will target women aged 50 to 74 living in and around Mexborough.

Nazia Sattar, community development worker with Doncaster CVS, said: “Ovarian cancer is the most fatal gynaecological cancer so it’s imperative we get the message out there. We’ll be heading out to meet with local women and delivering a short presentation about ovarian cancer. We’re directly approaching a variety of community groups.”

There are drop-in sessions at Mexborough Library, John Street, on Wednesday, January 23, and Monday, February 4, both from 10am to noon.
