Legal eagles in Sheffield have stepped up to the bar and put their names down for next year’s Master Cutler’s Challenge – seeing their company become the first business to do so.

Law firm Nabarro will be getting involved in the big charity drive in 2014 by putting entrepreneurial and fundraising skills to the test.

The new Master Cutler, Sheffield Forgemasters chairman Tony Pedder, has selected two local charities to benefit from the proceeds raised – Whirlow Hall Farm Trust and Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

Money collected for the hospitals cause will go to the Jessop maternity wing and its neonatal intensive care unit.

Nabarro associate Jessica Sharpe said: “This is the fourth year Nabarro has taken part and we didn’t want to miss out.

“The challenge is always great fun, everyone who has been involved has thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the chance to give something back to the Sheffield community.”

Businesses, groups, associations, schools and residents across South Yorkshire are encouraged to form teams to participate in the event.

After registering, they will be provided with £100, which they then need to turn into as much money as possible over a six-month period.

Sheffield Forgemasters will be the sponsor for 2014, and has already provided £20,000 of funding. Since 2008, the challenge has inspired more than 500 firms to raise more than £500,000.

Recent activities have included a talent show and space hopper races.
