Sheffield MPs are reminding city residents to have their flu jab if they are eligible for the vaccine, as winter approaches.
Meg Munn, who represents Heeley, and Paul Blomfield, MP for Sheffield Central, attended a vaccine clinic at the House of Commons as part of an event called Westminster Flu Day.
Last year more than 75 per cent of over 65s, and over half of those in ‘at-risk’ groups, received the jab in Sheffield which is in line with national averages. But Ms Munn, pictured above, said: “Flu can be a very serious illness for certain groups of people. I would therefore encourage all those that are over the age of 65 or in one of the ‘at-risk’ groups to visit their surgeries and get vaccinated.”
Members of parliament not eligible for a jab made a £10 donation enough to pay for a private vaccination to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
