MP backs killer disease fight

Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton has backed a Meningitis Research Foundation’s campaign calling for meningitis care to remain a top priority.

The Meningitis Matters campaign has been prompted by fears that the Government’s reforms to the NHS may destabilise progress made to control the disease.

Rosie said: “Meningitis hasn’t gone away - it still kills far too many children and leaves many more with lifelong disabilities.

“Although real progress has been made over the last decade, more needs to be done. Meningitis and septicaemia are terrible diseases which are vaccine preventable and no child should be dying from them in today’s world.”
