A Sheffield mum has raised thousands for young hospice patients with an exhilarating trek through the Himalayas.

Becky Boynton, from Grenoside, tackled the mountain range on an 85km group hike, collecting more than £4,000 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston.

The mum-of-one took on the challenge to mark her 40th birthday, and said completing the walk was a ‘massive achievement’.

“I’d never done anything as adventurous before,” said Becky.

She is now urging other fundraisers to take on similar dares in aid of Bluebell Wood.

The hospice has several reserved places in the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon, being run around the streets of York in October.

An event called the Tough Mudder - a gruelling 10-mile obstacle course - is also taking place.
