A FAMILY whose son died from epilepsy helped to raise over £2,800 last year for others who suffer from the condition.

Lorraine and John Hughes, of Edlington, lost their son John after he suffered an epileptic fit in 2005.

Since then the couple and their two children have donated just over £1,500 to Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust’s charitable funds by running a raffle, selling hog roast sandwiches, and hosting the John Hughes Memorial Cup horse show held in Edlington.

A further £1,300 was given by the South and West Yorkshire section of the British Show Jumping Society.
