Call to city’s trades people

St Luke’s Hospice is looking for plasterers, painters, decorators, electricians, plumbers, joiners, gardeners - and anybody with relevant specialist skills - to volunteer a little of their time towards the smooth running of the charity.

“We have an extremely busy maintenance team whose services are needed around the clock at the hospice,” said the hospice’s volunteer development manager Tracy Raybould.

“It can be a big drain on resources when they are called off site to work on problems at our chain of 11 shops dotted around the city, as far afield as Stocksbridge, Chapeltown and Crystal Peaks.

“There are also occasions when we might have a task at the hospice which means we have to engage external contractors for quite modest jobs.

“So we are aiming to develop a team of volunteer trades who could, at short notice, spare just a little of their time.”

Volunteers would need industry recognised qualifications. Call Tracy on 0114 235 7543 or Joy Wright on 0114 235 7542.
