BABIES are set to breathe a little easier after more than £3,000 was donated towards the care of newborns at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The Doncaster branch of Swedish bank, Handelsbanken, has donated the cash which will be spent on equipment to give oxygen to babies at the neo-natal unit, while allowing parents to easily feed, hold and care for their children.

Staff at the bank held a Summer Ball in May, at Ye Olde Bell, Barnby Moor, for colleagues, customers and professionals.

A raffle and auction was held to raise the money, with prizes up for grabs including a helicopter flight and romantic retreat for two in a luxury hotel, as well as a cocktail masterclass for eight people at Gordon Ramsay’s York and Albany restaurant.

A total of £3,110 was raised for the hospital through the ball.
