Air ambulances are a familiar sight in South Yorkshire’s skies – but this month they’re being seen on the county’s buses.

Nearly 500 large posters promoting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity have appeared on First Bus vehicles after a company donated the advertising space for free.

The space – worth around £100,000 – was offered by Exterion Media, which specialises in advertising on public transport.

John Ainley, Exterion’s North East business director, said: “We have worked with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance for many years.

“They deliver an incredible service – often in life-and- death situations – but do it all by relying on donations. We feel it is a privilege to take this message out and help ensure this vital service continues.”

The charity needs to raise £9,990 every day – the equivalent of £3.6 million a year – to keep its two helicopters in the air.
