Last chance to nominate a health hero

Have your say

TIME is running out to nominate your health heroes!

There are just three days left for readers of The Star to name the NHS staff in Sheffield who go the extra mile to provide the best possible care for their patients.

Nominations can be made by the end of Thursday for special individuals or groups of medical workers, such as doctors, consultants, nurses, midwives and kind volunteers who give up their time to look after others.

The winner of the Healthcare Hero award will be presented with their prize at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals’ annual Thank You Awards ceremony in November.

Potential winners could be any outstanding member of staff working in the Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Weston Park and Jessop’s hospitals, as well as the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital or community health services such as district nurses.

Healthcare Hero is a new category in this year’s competition - but the Thank You Awards have been running for the past eight years.

Last year volunteer Leslie Booler was nominated for the Gift of Time award. He has worked tirelessly at the Northern General’s Chesterman Unit since having a bypass operation in 2000.

Meanwhile the Estates Gardeners Team were nominated for the Behind The Scenes award for their work clearing snow and ice in the winter.
