A CANDIDATE in Rotherham council elections next month is taking a dive into fundraising when she takes part in a swimathon for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Judy Dalton, a candidate for Anston, will take part in the Swimathon 2011 event at Aston swimming baths raising money to support the charity’s nursing care to allow terminally ill people to remain at home.
She hopes to raise more than £200 by swimming two kilometres, or 80 lengths.
Judy, whose mum was cared for by Marie Curie nurses before she died from cancer, said: “This will be a challenge to complete as it is quite a bit further than I normally swim.
“I am very keen to raise funds for Marie Curie, who are closely associated with Rotherham hospice, who do great work.”
