A CANCER patient is looking forward to teeing off in a charity golf day he has organised in aid of a cause close to his heart.
John Price stepped in to help last year when it looked like the annual charity golf day in aid of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity would not go ahead.
And the 56-year-old enjoyed the experience so much he has stepped up for the role again this year – and already 53 teams have signed up to take part.
John, from Sandygate, said he was really looking forward to the event on July 8, which he hopes will beat last year’s fundraising total of £9,600.
He wanted to give his time to support the charity after taking part in a clinical trial with the hospital when he was diagnosed with secondary cancers in 2001.
“The experimental drug that was part of the clinical trial I underwent saved my life,” he said. “I have supported Weston Park ever since as a small way of saying thank you for the extra time I have been afforded with my family.”
