PATIENTS staying at Barnsley Hospital over the Bank Holiday will not miss out on the Jubilee celebrations.

The hospital is providing free access to all bedside televisions so patients can watch coverage of the historic event.

The cost of the TV viewing package - normally £3.50 a day - will be covered by Barnsley Hospital’s charitable funds.

Stephen Wragg, chairman of the hospital, said: “We don’t want patients to miss out.

“The charitable funds make it possible for the hospital to buy equipment, improve facilities and enhance the wellbeing of patients and staff where it wouldn’t be appropriate to use NHS money but where the trustees can see that it will make a big difference - and it was agreed that this is one of those occasions.”
