Barnsley Hospice is joining a national awareness drive.
Staff and volunteers will be promoting the work of the centre and its services as part of Hospice Care Week, which runs from October 8 to 14.
Branches of Barnsley Hospice shops will be inviting customers what the palliative care offered means to them in one word, which will then be displayed on special boards.
Diana Gibson, patient services manager at Barnsley Hospice, said: “People often don’t realise all the wide range of services we offer to such a wide range of people across Barnsley.
“Hospice care does not just take place in a building; we’re out in the community and at Barnsley Hospital too. And it’s not just for people with cancer; we support anyone in Barnsley with a life-limiting condition and it is all free.”
