AN exhibition at Weston Park Museum has been created by mental health patients in the city to explore the influence of home lives on people’s emotional health.
The Coming Home showcase, created by current and former users of mental health services run by Sheffield Health and Social Care Trust NHS, opens on July 2.
For the past 12 months members of the trust’s Creative Arts Steering Team have been working with staff from Museums Sheffield and University of Sheffield.
The project, led by specialist art therapist Ali Kitley-Jones, has seen participants create a ‘brick’ which represents why their home is important to them. The bricks have been combined to form the new ‘house’ artwork in the Sheffield Life and Times Gallery.
The display will feature a film by staff and students from the University of Sheffield’s Storying Sheffield project.
