A CARE home for adults with learning disabilities held an event to help people understand the often confusing terminology used in the NHS.
The ‘Giving Words Meaning’ day was held at Cranworth Close Registered Home in Rotherham, which is run by South Yorkshire Housing Association with Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.
The interactive session aimed to help people better understand terms such as equality, diversity, sexuality, confidentiality and advocacy.
Staff helped make the concepts more meaningful and discussions were then held based around learning what terms mean to residents.
Angela Warren, registered homes deputy manager, said: “This emphasises how important it is that we enable our residents to be aware of their rights.”
