A Doncaster NHS nursery has been hailed as excellent by Ofsted inspectors in their latest report.
The Warren Nursery and Hutch Playscheme, based at St Catherine’s Hospital, Tickhill Road, was given the top grade by inspectors, who described it as outstanding.
They said teaching was outstanding and staff were highly knowledgeable about the early years foundation stage.
That resulted in them planning for and providing an extensive range of activities that focus on children’s individual needs, interests and their next steps.
It also said children were extremely happy and settled, and their behaviour was excellent.
That was because staff were highly skilled and sensitive in helping all children form strong and secure emotional attachments, the report stated.
Staff were found to comprehensively identify and successfully minimise potential risks.
Their knowledge of the signs of abuse, and awareness of their responsibilities to protect children, ensured children in their care were kept safe.
Ofsted inspector Ruth Hudson added the manager and her staff team shared a clear vision for the nursery, and staff were highly motivated and celebrated the achievements of the children they cared for.
Close monitoring ensures continuous improvements are made, leading to outstanding practice that is worthy of dissemination to other settings.
Partnerships with parents were highly effective. Staff ensured parents were always actively involved in their children’s learning and development.
She said the school now needed to develop the children’s interests and excite their imagination outdoors, for example by providing a wider range of natural resources.
