A SHEFFIELD GP has laced up his running shoes as he trains for the London Marathon.

Martin Billington, a doctor at the Crookes Practice, School Road, will join thousands for the 26.2 mile race on Sunday April 17 in aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign.

He is aiming to raise £5,000 for the charity after two of his friends were diagnosed with the disease.

Martin said: “I’ve been very impressed by the charity’s effectiveness in helping breast cancer research, both as a supporter and a GP with many patients with this disease.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to run for the campaign at my first London Marathon and hope lots of people will sponsor me.”
