SHEFFIELD’S keen golfers are hoping rain will not stop play as they embark on the rescheduled St Luke’s Hospice annual Am-Am Golf Tournament.

The popular sports event, organised by the Rotary Club of Sheffield and the hospice Action Group and sponsored by Elevation Recruitment, returns to Abbeydale Golf Club tomorrow, with 33 teams taking to the greens.

Over the past 14 years the golf day has raised more than £65,000 for the hospice and last year’s event was the most successful to date, bringing in a final total of £5,500.

Open to teams of four players – from scratch to 24 handicap golfers – the event also includes dinner and a prize-giving ceremony. Anybody interested in taking part can still contact David Green at davfgreen@aol.com
