MORE than one in 10 Sheffield people have admitted they can’t stomach work because of poor gastric health, according to a new study.

The survey revealed 14 per cent of people have taken time off work for stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation and conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome.

And 73 per cent of respondents in Sheffield said they suffered pain and discomfort from gastric conditions.

The research was carried out by the people behind new probiotic Symprove.

The researchers also discovered more than a third of people would not bother their GP with their condition.
