HELPERS at a group for sufferers of young-onset dementia staged a garden party in Doncaster.

The event was organised by the People Relying on People - PROP - support group, for service users and carers at Fulwood Lodge on the St Catherine’s site in Tickhill Road, Balby.

Cake and book stalls, games and a jumble sale all helped to get the funds flowing.

All money raised will be put back into PROP to be spent on resources and events.

The group has been running for 10 years and campaigns for the needs of younger dementia sufferers to be addressed. Volunteers regularly attend conferences to speak about their experiences.

The group provides carers and service users with practical advice and support, and the chance to share their experiences.

Members can go on day trips and holidays with people who understand their situation. The group’s meeting place at Fulwood Lodge opened in April.
