Runners can enjoy a month’s free gym membership to help get into shape for the forthcoming Sheffield Half Marathon.

Anyone who signs up to the 13.1 mile race through the city is being offered four weeks’ free access to the new Be X Fitness centre on Flora Street, Upperthorpe in the city, to help with their training.

Margaret Lilley, race chairman, said: “We are so excited Be X Fitness is engaging with the community and supporting running.

“Training is essential to the half marathon runners and this provides an opportunity for entrants to really build up their fitness levels in the lead up to the big day.”

The free membership includes use of the gym’s equipment and classes, including an indoor running club and spinning classes.

David Summerson, Be X Fitness owner, said: “The Sheffield Half Marathon is a great event that gets all the community involved in fitness.

“As a new local gym, we want to support the runners and help train them for the challenge.”

To redeem the offer, half marathon entrants should contact the gym on 0844 561 6844 with their race number and booking receipt.

The half marathon and accompanying 3km fun run takes place on Sunday, April 6, starting and finishing at the Don Valley Bowl, Attercliffe.

Entry costs £26 for the half marathon and £5 for the fun run.
