A dental surgery is offering free checks to look for symptoms of deadly mouth cancer later this month.
The Wickersley Dental Practice is opening its doors from 11am to 1pm, and 4pm to 6pm, on September 17, to mark Mouth Cancer Awareness Day.
Natalie Wright, the member of staff leading the screening, said a colleague was diagnosed with the condition two years ago.
“It has really sharpened our focus regarding the importance of screening and early diagnosis to give the very best prognosis,” she added.
Mouth cancer affects nearly 8,000 people in the UK every year.
The practice, on Morthen Road, Wickersley, will accept walk-in appointments as well as bookings. Call 01709 543 033.
