HEALTH bosses are offering free advice for employers in Sheffield to help stop their workers smoking.
The Star yesterday revealed that cigarette breaks cost city employers £35.9 million every year and smoking-related sick days cost another £30.9 million.
Sheffield Council and NHS Sheffield are trying to tackle the impact of smoking on employers by offering a free Workplace Stop Smoking Scheme, in which an adviser comes into offices and factories to offer advice and workshops.
Specialist adviser Lucy Ball offers flexible sessions depending on employers’ needs.
Claire Holden, manager of the Sheffield Stop Smoking Service, said: “Businesses realise there is a cost impact of smoking and have been receptive to helping staff quit.”
