A JUDGE has partly quashed an NHS consultation which led to the decision to shut a heart surgery unit used by South Yorkshire children.
Mrs Justice Nicola Davies, sitting at the High Court in London, said aspects of the consultation over the unit at Leeds General Infirmary were ‘ill-judged’.
But the judge stressed this afternoon that she was only quashing ‘one part’ of the Joint Committee of Primary Care Trusts’ decision, calling for ‘re-consultation and reconsideration’.
She emphasised that she was not ordering for the whole consultation process to be repeated from scratch.
The judge’s decision follows protests by the Save Our Surgery campaign group.
