THE memory of a long-serving leader of Doncaster Royal Infirmary will live on thanks to an impressive landscape going on display in the foyer.
The painting of Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales was presented to the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in memory of former Chief Executive Nigel Clifton, OBE, on the anniversary of his death last August, by his widow, Elizabeth Clifton.
The picture will hang in the main foyer at the Armthorpe Road block, which was Nigel’s base after he took up the post of chief executive in 1997.
Presenting the picture, by Yorkshire artist Piers Browne, Mrs Clifton remarked that her late husband had two great loves - his work and visiting Wensleydale.
But she added that he never went to Wensleydale without his briefcase full of paperwork for his work.
Mrs Clifton also thanked hospital staff for their support for Nigel during his illness - and for her and the family after his death.
