A WARD at Barnsley Hospital is to undergo a facelift after receiving a cash boost from charitable funds.
Ward 19, a medical ward specialising in the care of the elderly, has received nearly £1,000 to improve the environment and create a welcoming and calming space.
The money will be used to buy accessories for the ward to colour-code different areas.
Brightly-coloured visitor chairs have been bought for patient areas in the same colour as other accessories in the same room, to help vulnerable patients find their way around. New signs have already been put up for bathroom and toilet facilities which have pictures rather than words to help with visual recognition.
It is hoped the decor will help patients suffering confusion or dementia.
