Dental researchers, cancer specialists and fertility experts from Sheffield’s hospitals will be taking part in a free science exhibition this Friday.
Medics from the Charles Clifford Dental School, the Jessop maternity wing and Weston Park cancer hospital are taking part in Sheffield University’s Discovery Night, which runs from 4pm to 8pm at Firth Court on Western Bank.
Members of the Jessop fertility team will be showing video clips from a new time-lapse system which shows how embryos develop.
Dental researchers will also be asking visitors to try their hand at mending bones as well as looking inside their own mouths at microscopic level.
Staff from Weston Park, together with experts from Sheffield Cancer Research Centre and Yorkshire Cancer Research, will be helping people to understand genetics by showing how DNA can be extracted from strawberries.
