Sheffield Children’s Hospital has invested in a new specialist bed and cot for its neurosciences ward.
The £7,000 bed was funded using part of a £10,000 donation to Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity from Sandra McCabe of the Scarborough Group Foundation, which makes donations to worthy causes.
The bed will keep children suffering from head trauma safe and secure while they rest.
Angela Dunn, projects officer at the hospital charity, said: “These children are confused, disorientated and emotionally upset as a result of their head injury and will often attempt to climb out of their bed.
“This bed has clear plastic window sides round it, with padded vinyl panels for additional safety, which can be removed so that the patient may be monitored more easily.”
