AN INNOVATIVE Sheffield charity which provides assistance dogs for people with disabilities has received £94,000 to support work with people with autism.

The Support Dogs organisation received the donation from the BBC’s Children in Need appeal and the cash has been earmarked for autism assistance dog training.

It will enable the training of 12 extra dogs – four each year – over the next three years.

The first dog to be trained using the Children in Need cash will be named Grant and his work with the charity is to begin soon.
