Disadvantaged youths set to work on city waterway

Have your say

Young people are set to learn important skills while helping to improve a waterway.

The scheme is aimed at ‘disengaged and disadvantaged’ youths, and activities are happening today and Thursday at Hartley Brook Dyke in Shiregreen. Around 30 young people from Firth Park College will be carrying out tasks such as clearing away blockages which stop fish swimming easily.

The group is working with the Environment Agency, Sheffield Wildlife Trust, charity Remedi and the River Stewardship Company.
