Members of cycling club helped raise over £10,000 for Weston Park Hospital.

Brothers Dean and Russ Downing, who ride for Out of the Saddle Cycle Club, held a fundraising dinner in November and fellow riders grew beards, completed marathons and set personal cycling challenges to raise the cash.

One rider, Jack Stephenson, who rode from London to Paris, joined the brothers when they presented the cash to the hospital and were given a tour of its facilities.

Russ, who organised the charity dinner, said: “It was fantastic to have a look around the clinical research unit and get an idea of how donations to the cancer charity can make such fundamental differences to how cancer is treated.”
