A SOUTH Yorkshire MP is inviting constituents to join him for a cuppa on Friday, September 30, to raise money for cancer care.
Wentworth and Dearne Labour MP John Healey is taking part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning with an event at his office on High Street, Wath, between 10am and 12noon.
The charity is encouraging people across South Yorkshire to hold coffee mornings to raise money for the charity.
Mr Healey said: “I know a considerable number of constituents have personal experience of the problems a cancer diagnosis can bring to both patients and their family, and I know Macmillan has been there to support many of those in need.”
The MP added the coffee mornings are an “easy and fun way to raise money”.
“Every penny you raise will help people with cancer,” he said.
Fundraising manager Amy Hebdon said the charity wants this year’s event to be the biggest ever.
“It’s really easy to take part in, especially as you can do it your way. It doesn’t have to be about coffee mornings - it can be about afternoon tea or an evening dinner party,” she said.
