DONCASTER College is celebrating being awarded a five-star rating for its food safety and hygiene standards in the food hall at The Hub campus.
Following an inspection by Doncaster Council’s environmental health officers, the food hall has been given the top rating as part of the Food Standards Agency ‘Scores on the Doors’ scheme, which promotes food safety and displays to the public the standard of food hygiene.
Nigel Fox, Doncaster College catering and training support manager, said: “This excellent score demonstrates the college’s commitment to food safety, giving our students, staff and visitors confidence that excellent food safety procedures are being carried out.”
Former army warrant officer Nigel, who is also an ex-student of the college, added: “Food safety training provided by Doncaster College ensures our in-house catering department understands and complies with all current food safety legislation.
“All caterers need to understand the need for good food safety and hazard analysis to prevent food-borne illness, which could harm business and lead to a criminal prosecution.”
