TWO Sheffield dental practices are to take part in a pioneering NHS pilot programme.
Richmond Dental Surgery and Minto Road Dental Care in Hillsborough have been picked to take part in the scheme which will see dentists give patients a traffic light rating after their check-ups.
Patients will be given a rating of red, amber or green, according to how healthy their teeth are - and advice on looking after their gnashers.
The aim of the scheme is to prevent dental problems before they arise.
The programme started in 2011 with 70 practices, and the second stage will be launched this April so that the new practices can develop the work further.
Barry Cockcroft, Chief Dental Officer for England, said: “I am delighted to welcome in practices in Yorkshire to the pilot scheme.”
