A children’s cancer charity received £30,000 in pledged donations at a business lunch in Sheffield.
More than 50 business owners attended the event in aid of Chesterfield-based Kids n’ Cancer, which helps young patients travel to the US for proton therapy.
The event at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Meadowhead saw £30,000 pledged, by donors including BRM Solicitors, Casa Hotel, PK Group and R Wilkes Transport.
Kids n’ Cancer founder Mike Hyman spoke at the event about the charity’s work as well as sponsorship opportunities available to businesses at the Chesterfield and Derbyshire Marathon on September 14.
Mike said: “Events of this nature are invaluable to us as they allow the charity to speak to businesses about the work we do and how that work has supported families across the country.
“Every young person we have helped to receive treatment is still alive today. This is testament to the success of proton therapy and the hard work our charity undertakes on a daily basis.
“The Chesterfield Marathon offers companies a local event to be involved with, help raise their profile and support a local charity, so it’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
