THE boss of Rotherham’s health service has announced his retirement.

Brian James, Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust chief executive, is stepping down after eight years in the top job.

He said he wanted to ‘hand the baton on to the next generation of leaders’.

Matthew Lowry, his deputy, will fill in until a replacement is appointed.

Mr James said: “We have built the right foundations for long-term success and are putting into place plans to secure our financial future.”
