INDEPENDENt brewers are set to raise a glass to Sheffield - and to St Luke’s Hospice.

For the first time, the Society of Independent Brewers’ SIBA BeerX Festival will be coming to Ponds Forge, from this Wednesday until Saturday.

Members will be sampling up to 700 beers from pale craft lagers to dark porters, taking in strong and best bitters, golden and pale ales, milds and stouts.

Brewers who have already offered to send beers to Sheffield come from all corners of the country, and visitors will hear from a host of guest speakers, including Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch star Simon Rimmer.

And at the same time they will be supporting the event’s charity partnership with St Luke’s Hospice.

“We are delighted the festival is able to support St Luke’s,” said Alex Buchanan from Thornbridge Brewery. “There will be collection buckets at the event but, in addition, any unused beer tickets can be handed in and converted into cash for St Luke’s.”
