fundraising efforts by a Sheffield businessman have been given a lift by a donation from an international crane firm.

Verlinde sponsored Jon Gardner, of city firm BeyondPR, 1,000 euros to complete the London Marathon for Deafness Research UK, a charity which funds projects looking into hearing loss, tinnitus and other related conditions.

Jon, who completed the marathon in five hours 42 minutes, wants to raise £5,000 - helped by the Verlinde cash.

Simon Rothechild, business development manager at the firm, said: “When we heard Jon had completed the London Marathon for such a good cause we felt it was appropriate to recognise this achievement.”
