Patients at St Luke’s Hospice will be able to beat the summer heatwave thanks to the generosity of raffle winner John Spencer.
John, who lives in Norton, won £2,000 worth of Meadowhall gift cards, the first prize in the annual St Luke’s Summer Spree Super Draw.
But he decided to make his prize do even more good, donating it all back to charity – with £1,000 for St Luke’s and £1,000 for the Sheffield Cathedral Archer Project.
And the money received by St Luke’s is being spent on the latest Dyson fans for the hospice’s new £5 million In Patient Centre.
John received his prize from Meadowhall Centre Director Darren Pearce, who said: “The St Luke’s Summer Spree Super Draw initiative has been a great hit with Meadowhall shoppers, raising a staggering £38,000.
“Congratulations to Mr Spencer who has picked up the £2,000 worth of gift cards - and what wonderful news to hear he is donating it to St Luke’s and the Archer Project.”
Leia Bunker, Lottery and Regular Giving Development Manager, said: “We’re so grateful to Mr Spencer for this generous donation, which will make such a difference to our patients.
“We’re also really thankful to Meadowhall.”
