A GOLF tournament welcomed a host of famous faces who took to the course alongside sport enthusiasts to raise money for a city cancer charity.
Ex-England international footballer Chris Waddle organised the event in aid of Cavendish Cancer Care, of which he is patron.
The event, at Sickleholme Golf Club, welcomed celebrities from the worlds of TV and sport who, along with Chris, included Duncan Wood from ITV’s Calendar and Chesterfield FC manager John Sheridan.
They each joined a team of three golfers to take part in the tournament, which had been a sell-out since February.
The day raised more than £4,000 for Cavendish Cancer Care.
The money will go towards supporting patients and their families through diagnosis, treatment and into the future.
Chris said: “The day went without a hiccup.
“A huge thank you to the teams for their support and the celebrities who gave up their time.”
Sally Eustace, corporate partnership manager at the charity, said: “It’s important to have fun when you’re fundraising.
“The added bonus was the day’s events were not only successful in terms of the money raised, but the people showing their support had a good time.”
