SHEFFIELD is set to celebrate its senior citizens as part of a global day of awareness.
The city will take part in the International Day of Older People on Monday, October 1, by bringing residents over 50 together to share their achievements and applaud the contribution older people make to society.
The free Celebrating Age event takes place at the Crucible Theatre in the city centre from 10am until 4pm.
Local senior citizens will showcase their talents to fellow members of the elderly population.
Jane Tanser, of the Sheffield 50+ Project, said: “The aim of the day will be to promote a positive image of older people, bring communities together, break down barriers to isolation and engage with younger people which will encourage intergenerational work.”
