The Game Cube challenges contestants to grab as many coloured balls as possible, as they are blown around in a whirling cyclone.

Players simply pay £1 to enter, which goes directly to the Whirlow hospice – and the highest scorer at the end of each day wins a prize, such as a meal for two at La Tasca worth £30, as well as being entered into an annual prize draw.

St Luke’s has been chosen as Meadowhall’s charity of the year, which means events will be happening at the centre throughout the year to collect funds.

A new £5 million inpatient wing has just opened at the hospice, and hundreds of thousands of pounds are still needed to pay for the facility.

Readers of The Star are being urged to hold pie and pea suppers throughout March to raise cash.
