Big-hearted builders have boosted an appeal to transform Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Big-hearted builders have boosted the appeal to transform Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
The seventh Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards raised nearly £3,000 for the Make It Better campaign.
Organisers at the Chartered Institute of Building and Little Spark events were thanked by chiefs at The Children’s Hospital Charity.
Director David Vernon-Edwards said: “The support of the CIOB and the Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards ceremony guests means we can transform the hospital, with world class facilities to match the world class care received by children on our wards.
“We are so grateful for their continued efforts and generous contribution to our appeal.”
The money was raised as guests putting donations in envelopes left on the tables at the awards.
It will be used to fund a brand new building project at The Children’s Hospital.
The work, currently underway by contractors Simons Group will see the hospital, on Western Bank, transformed with a brand new wing complete with plenty of private rooms and parent beds, a spacious outpatients department with a giant play tower, and a secure outdoor space.
Andrew Nortcliffe, chairman of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire centre of CIOB, said: “We are proud to support The Children’s Hospital Charity, as we do each year at the awards, and to help raise money to build a world class hospital for children from all over the country.
“We are lucky to have this fantastic facility on our doorstep, and the CIOB have raised £10,000 over the years to help support it.”
