Alison Robinson is a super slimmer – finding her way to the finals of a national contest after losing more than half her body weight.
The mum-of-three, from Maltby, Rotherham, dropped from 26st 7.5lb to 11st 7lb, earning her a place in the finals of Slimming World’s woman of the year 2013 competition.
And at the big event, Alison was congratulated by the ceremony’s special guest, former Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
Alison, aged 46, said previous diets had left her disappointed, but she was overjoyed with the results after joining her local slimming group.
She said: “I’d tried losing weight before, but always failed miserably because diets I followed would leave me feeling hungry and deprived, so I’d be miserable too.
“I’d miss my favourite foods too much, so before long I’d have thrown in the towel and be back where I started.
“Slimming World was different to anything I’d known before – I didn’t have to go hungry and I’ve never once felt like I’m missing out on anything. The changes I made to the way I cooked and ate were small ones, but they made a big difference.
“It was great to be able to eat the same as my family and friends, instead of having a separate ‘diet’ dinner.”
Jovita Langley, who runs the group Alison attends, said: “She doesn’t only look great on the outside, she’s a new woman on the inside.
“Nowadays she’s unrecognisable from the unhappy woman who walked into the group all those months ago.
“She’s happier, healthier and more confident – she’s inspired so many other people in the group.”
The group meets every Saturday at 8am and 10am at the Ibis Hotel, Bramley, Rotherham.
