PATIENTS in Sheffield are to benefit from £10,000 lottery grant to help tackle lung disease.
The money will be used to set up a new project for patients with respiratory conditions, including asbestos-related disorders.
The Awards for All funding has been secured by Sheffield And Rotherham Asbestos Group - SARAG - which will work with Sheffield International Venues to deliver the scheme.
The Air-ways project will provide a series of free six-week fitness sessions for people with respiratory problems.
Pulmonary exercise referral specialist, Jo Strong, will lead the twice-weekly classes for up to 15 people.
Paula Walker, coordinator at SARAG, said: “SIV has a proven track record of improving the health of the local community so we are delighted to be working with them on this very positive new scheme.
“South Yorkshire’s industrial legacy means respiratory health is a major problem.”
Air-ways will be launched Ponds Forge on Friday, April 20.
