Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) is celebrating after winning the award for ‘Best Internal Occupational Health and Safety For Organisations Of More Than 250 Staff’.
The Health and Safety team from the Service were presented with the William Jackson Trophy at the Occupational Health and Safety Group annual awards in Hull on Friday 9 May.
The team were commened for introducing a new database that allowed them to identify themes and trends of reported illness or injury. From this data anaylais, it was identifed there was a need for training to given to all employees relating to lifiting and handling to reduce back injuries. The training was delivered as an e-learning package to all HFRS employees and also improvements were made to the Health and Safety information communicated to visitors.
