In The Star recently there was an article about the manning levels of the police patrols on our streets, because of cutbacks the powers-that- be are suggesting that officers could be sent out on their own instead of in pairs.
This could prove very hazardous and even dangerous, as these days one man on his own could easily be targeted by gangs of thugs who have no respect for the law.
The need for back-up from a colleague is vital for the welfare of everyone. The bureaucrats can always work things out in theory, but in practice it is a very different story.
All the emergency services, police, ambulance, fire service etc, have at times come under severe attacks from mindless morons, who have no consideration for law and order.
