A SHEFFIELD performer and actress inspired by Team GB’s Olympic Gold medalists including homegrown star Jessica Ennis has penned a song paying tribute to them.

In the video, TV and stage actress and writer Hayley Nolan, originally from Stannington, thanks the London 2012 Olympians for ‘giving the world its spirit back.’

Reach for the Sun was written and performed by Hayley, aged 25, in her bedroom and posted on YouTube.

She has also sent it to Olympic heroes Bradley Wiggins and Jessica Ennis to thank them for their inspiring performances, ahead of the Paralympic Games.

Hayley said: “Following the Olympics and seeing the world celebrate these amazing athletes’ dedication and hard work, I just felt moved to write this song.

“The Olympics uplifted the nation, the whole world, and inspired kids.”
